Don't be afraid to dream!

Psalm 59:16: I will sing of your strength; in the morning I will sing of your love...

My heart is overflowing with gratitude this morning. I have been awake since 2:30 AM. I tried to go back to sleep but my mind was thinking about all I needed to do today, and I could not wait to get up and get started. Those of you who have known me for a while may know that I have not always been a morning person. I used to be cranky if I had to get up early and would hit the snooze button on my alarm multiple times. It is crazy to realize that at 5AM, I am sitting in my office, drinking coffee with pumpkin spice creamer and working. As Psalm 59:16 states above, this morning I am singing of God’s love to me while working.

I love words and inspirational quotes. One of my favorites is by Mark Batterson and goes like this: ”Quit living as if the purpose of life is to arrive safely at death. Run to the roar. Get God sized goals, Pursue God given passions. Go after a dream that is destined to fail without divine intervention.”

As I am sitting here making sure everything is perfect on my next book and looking at the illustrations sent to me, yesterday, by the best illustrator in the world, the tears of gratitude begin to well up in my eyes. Two years ago, my heart was so heavy thinking about all the horrible things our culture was feeding to our children. I felt that nudge that I needed to do something about it…but what? My motto has always been, “YES.” This time was no different. At some point in the future, I will share with you the story of how Zechariah Park came to be, it is such a good one. For now, I will just say, this was and still is a dream that is destined to fail without divine intervention. I see that divine intervention daily and for that I am so grateful.

Our world is in a mess, and we could use more God sized dreams that are destined to fail without divine intervention. Do you have a dream to make this world a better place? Has God given you a passion that you could use to make a difference? You are never too old. If you are still breathing, you can have influence.

Another one of my favorite quotes is: “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” Will you join me in doing something today to have influence in our world? I would love to hear about your dream that is so big it will fail without God’s help and what small thing you did today to make your little corner of the world a better place.
