Great Is Thy Faithfulness

Have you ever had one of those weeks, months or years that feel like the hits keep coming? I am sure, you have. It happens to all of us. On this cool Indiana Saturday morning, I am sitting in my favorite chair thinking about the events of the past couple of weeks. It has been tough. Friends and family are dealing with difficult issues and there is much uncertainty. As I contemplate what might happen in the coming days, the following promises from God’s Word keep rolling through my mind. >Lamentations 3:22-23. Because of the Lord’s great love, we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. >Isaiah 46:4 (NLT) I will be your God throughout your lifetime—until your hair is white with age. I made you, and I will care for you. I will carry you along and save you. What reassurance these promises bring to my heart! When life’s struggles are at their toughest, we can have absolute confidence that our God is in control. He not only walks beside us through these difficult days, but he also carries us when necessary. I would like to share examples from just two of the people in my life that are struggling right now but are resting in God’s love and care. #1 is struggling with serious health issues. In the text updates that come, the last sentence is always, “God is good.” #2 is dealing with devastating health news but is more peaceful and joyful than they have been in years. Only our Heavenly Father could give such joy and peace in the middle of such difficult seasons. “His mercies are new every morning.” I am grateful for God’s love, care and the prayers of those around me. I cannot imagine facing life without him. Are you facing difficult situations, as well? Reach out to God. He will sustain you and give you peace if you call on him. One of my very favorites is “Great Is Thy Faithfulness.” It brings me comfort and reminds me that God is faithful and will be with us no matter what we are facing.
